Things are getting started and winding down in ART

Advisory has worked very hard on their presentations for conferences. An email confirmation was sent out last night with your information and a link if online. Tomorrow our kids can participate in the Patton Mini Thon at the high school. I'll be chaperoning too:)

Next week the kids have 3 half days and off Thursday and Friday. Monday they will have their AM classes, Tuesday PM classes and Wednesday they see all their classes for 20 minutes each. Dismissal is at 11:10am. Happy Thanksgiving!!

6th Grade ART is coming to the end. Most are finished the crushed can project and have moved on to the last project, Illuminated Letter. Here's one of the bulletin boards outside our art rooms and the display across from the office of houses and crushed cans. And we have some action shots of the students working.

8th Grade ART is just starting up. We started with choice project last week. Most students chose clay. I have a montage of the greenware (not fired clay) drying out so we can fire them. After clay we started getting ready for our wire project while we wait for the clay. You can see the kids researching famous artists, drawing out the idea and finally putting together the wire armature.

7th Grade ART is just starting up too. Students are working hard on their 3 food drawings and even wrote an alliteration about their clay choice. They were clearly confused that we would write in art class, but writing across the curriculum is important.

Quarter 2 has started this week

Hello! Welcome to Quarter 2 Advisory and Art Classes

Advisory Here's what is going on...

  • Quarter 1 ended Monday. However, trimester classes will run until December 1st.
  • Students are working on a slide show for their student led conferences to share with their families. I have sent out the Signup Genius to your emails. If you did not receive it, please let me know.
  • Picture retakes are this Tuesday. Any child can get theirs retaken or taken for the first time.
  • Lunch time looks a little different. Outside seating is no longer assigned but your child is welcome to utilize the area.

6th Grade ART Trimester 1 is coming to an end December 1st... Here is 6th grade working on the Crushed Can Project. Some are finished, some are using paper maché to cover their can, some are painting the background and some are drawing out their ideas. Next up and last project is the Illuminated Letter.

7th Grade ART has just begun this week. We are starting with clay food or fashion. Students are researching what they want to make and we will begin drawings to prepare for clay. Here's a shot of the project page graphic:)

8th Grade Sculpture has just begun this week. We are starting with the choice project. Students expressed they really wanted to start with something that could be used for the holidays. Most wanted to use clay. Therefore, I have reworked the schedule so we can start with choice instead of cardboard. Students have a choice between clay or found object. Here are images from the choice project page to help them decide. Next week we begin;)
