Advisory: This upcoming week students do not have school on Tuesday. This is an inservice day. Ask your students about their new quarter 3 enrichment classes. They recently started them at the end of last week and this week. Here are a couple of shots of Advisory. They are watching HawkTV, something we do every morning for our news, any special schedules and most fun... birthday announcements. The other is some of them posing for the camera. Love your kiddos:)
6th Grade ART: This class is a trimester class, so you kiddos are still enjoying art until early March. Here are some shots of their Heraldry project. They researched their countries, learned color blending and even tried out calligraphy. This week we started our clay house designs and rolled out our slabs of clay for the base of the house. Look for photos of clay next week.
Q2 8th Grade Sculpture: Quarter 2 ended last week but I have some great shots of their cardboard projects being finished up. I hope they enjoy their next enrichment class and I will miss them.
Q3 8th Grade Sculpture and Traditional ART: Students were introduced to the course last week and this week we started our Art History Unit. Your student should have come home with a permission slip to go on a field trip February 10th. The form is pink and can also be found here. Your student will need to download it with their .ucfsd login. We need the form back by Friday this week please. There is a $15 fee for admission and bussing. The fee can be a check, cash or paid in PowerSchool. Also... WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU CHAPERONE! If you have your clearances, please sign up to join us. Your admission as a chaperone is free and you would meet us at the museum from 9:45-11:45am:)
Q2 7th Grade ART: Students ended the course last week. Here are some of the fabulous printmaking projects they created. They carved a linocut Kente Clothe and African animal designs, then printed it several ways. You will see different colors, modified prints (added watercolor, crayon, sharpie, color pencil) and "create your own paper" with linocuts printed on top. I think they really enjoyed the splatter box!
Q3 7th Grade ART: Students were introduced to the course last week and this week we started our Printmaking Unit, Chinese New Year and Dragon Boat Festival. Students just started practicing drawing out either a dragon or a tiger. Students will eventually print their designs just like Q2 classes did above. More to come...
