Ending the calendar year with ART!

Advisory: Don't forget next week is a SPIRIT WEEK for the holidays! Here's an awesome graphic from Mr. Walsh. Some students are also trying to create a surprise art project for our families. Hopefully we have time to fire them.

6th Grade ART: Students made their colonial slip trailing cookies shiny this week. Right now they look pink but I promised them there is a chemical reaction that happens in the oven where they definitely turn clear and shiny. They have also been working hard on the warmups and have started giving them color. I have to say, they are hysterically cute! I hope to get most in the kiln Monday.

8th Grade ART: We had a really exciting trip to the Brandywine River Museum on Thursday! A great big thank you to all of our parent volunteers!!!!! We could not run this trip without you:) Mrs. Ferron and I were so so happy to be back at the museum. It really is a great way to end our art history unit by seeing the original artwork in person and having a tour guide give all the ins and outs of each painting. I learn something new every time. In other news... I was also able to get the clay choice projects fired.

7th Grade ART: Students are finishing up glazing their food/fashion clay projects and have started Kente Cloth printmaking project. The first part is choosing their favorite African Animal and then incorporating it into a design using at least 5 kente symbols. They are doing a great job so far:) And on the right of the photo are our new glaze cookies. The kids have been very helpful glazing them for the classroom.
