December is off to a great start

Advisory and Clubs!

We have started a little craft project in  Advisory and are hopeful they will be finished by break. And the B Team teachers are planning a fun day for Thursday the 23rd... Stay tuned.

Clubs have been working hard on making plarn (plastic+yarn), weaving and crocheting. Today we did a bit of that and even some coloring for fun. Here are some photos:)

6th Grade ART

Students learned 10 colonial slip trailing techniques and applied them to clay "cookies" this week. They were required to use at least 5 across 2 cookies. After cookies, we learned how to use the 3 basic clay building techniques (slab, coil and pinch pot) to build a warmup project. They drew out their ideas that incorporate all 3 techniques and started to build them late this week. A key part of the warmup is how to actually keep the clay together. Students learned to score, slip and smooth. Enjoy some photos:)

8th Grade ART

Most are finished the wire projects and we are firing the glazed clay choice projects this weekend. Yesterday we started our art history unit to get us ready for the Brandywine River Museum of Art trip next Thursday. If your student did not get their form/payment into me yet, please have them bring it Monday. I can't tell you how excited I am that we are going to the museum!!! Thank you so much to those who volunteered to come with us. We still need a couple more folks if you have your clearances.

7th Grade ART

Students finished up building their clay projects this week and most are in the kiln firing this weekend. We started the printmaking unit yesterday. This quarter's theme is Kente Clothes.
